The special exhibition, Love Letter Unfolding, marks the first public showcase of several precious original manuscripts, private art collections, and personal belongings of Ms. Anita Chen. The visual identity of the exhibition is woven from lightweight sheer curtains, floating Xuan paper, and classical Song dynasty poetry, creating an imagery of the “infinite”. This love letter, penned from family memories, is never truly finished; it gently unfolds across the space with every step the viewer takes.

A Supple Silhouette in Ink: Composure Cultivated through Serenity

Xuan paper gently unfurls across the Balance Table, like an endless thread of longing. While Ms. Anita Chen appeared gentle and elegant to the outside world, she was inherently spirited and restless, leading her to seek inner peace through calligraphy. The way she held her breath and concentrated before putting brush to paper deeply inspired the “suppleness” in Grace’s creations—a gentle yet unwavering strength.

Also on display is Glistening, a piece inspired by her mother’s painting, Flowing Down. Through the delicate weaving of light and shadow, the shimmering water comes alive on the bags, expressing a warm flow of emotion.

The Memory Capsule: A Philosophical Space for Observing the World

Within Grace’s memory capsule—where she explores space and angles—the leather painting Lake and Window reconstructs landscapes through warp and weft, while the artistic bag Breathtaking captures the emotional tension of the moment just before touch. As her mother once taught Grace: “True serenity is complete peace in the eye of the storm.” This breath-holding moment condenses all dynamic energy into an instant, allowing the soul to breathe freely as the object opens and closes.

The Typewriter & Legacy: The Origin of Love Behind the Typewriter

The most moving emotional crossroads in the exhibition is undoubtedly the physics doctoral thesis laid out on the desk. This is AN OPTICAL STUDY OF TURBULENCE WITHIN FIRE PLUMES, the PhD thesis written by Grace’s father, Mr. Winston Wong, while studying in London in 1976. Back then, Mr. Wong used “laser interferometry” to find order within chaos; unfamiliar with typewriters, he was supported by Ms. Anita Chen, who sat by his side and typed out the complex theories and formulas letter by letter.

This typewriter witnessed the origin of their love, where rational physical formulas were gently completed by the warmth of a loving hand. Just as her father studied laser penetration to reveal turbulence, Grace captures the traces of emotion through the shadows of leather and mesh. This continuous resonance of rationality and sensibility has become an everlasting source of nourishment for Grace’s life and creations.
