Realm of Duality: Grace Han’s Artistic Sublimation at Christie’s
The 2024 London Asian Art Exhibition concluded gracefully on November 4, reaffirming its role as one of the most significant annual gatherings in the global art world. This year, Taiwanese art institution Ink Global led the charge by presenting Sublimation at Christie’s headquarters in the St. James’s Gallery. The exhibition featured seven highly acclaimed Taiwanese artists: Fu Yiyao, Tai Hsiang Chou, Wang Sih Han, Su Hsien Fa, Vincent Fang, Chu Yu Yi, and Chi Po Chou. It marked a historic milestone as the first collective of Taiwanese artists to be showcased at this prestigious venue. Their presence opened a new horizon for Asian art on the international stage.

Among the featured artists, Wang Sih-Han, artist and founder of the Grace Han brand, captivated audiences with her stunning leather-based creations. Centered around the theme of “2,” her work explores the concept of duality and unity, extending leather craftsmanship beyond fashion into the realm of fine art. In her vision, handbags become walking paintings, and paintings transform into soaring bags, forming a poetic dialogue between material and form. This symbiotic relationship gracefully transcends traditional boundaries and offers a redefined expression of art.

She uses leather as her canvas and craftsmanship as her brush, delicately portraying the poetic interplay of water and light. Through her artistry, the resilient material of leather takes on a graceful fluidity, echoing the softness and movement of water. At Christie’s, she unveiled eleven new works, each met with enthusiastic acclaim, reflecting her profound understanding of materials and her gentle interpretation of artistic emotion. As both an artist and a steward of craftsmanship, Grace continues to push the boundaries of creation, while devoting herself to passing down the essence of beauty and technique. Today, Grace Han stands as a distinguished symbol in the global landscape of leather artistry.
